£48,000-a-wk player ready to quit Everton, club chief wants face-to-face talks – report

Everton forward Beto is open to a return to Italy, with Torino’s sporting director Davide Vagnati looking to hold direct talks, according to the Sunday People.

The January 19 report (page 47) states that Torino have identified the 26-year-old as a key transfer target this winter. Beto, who previously played for Udinese before joining Everton in August 2023, is interested in a move back to Serie A.

Torino are reportedly aiming for an initial loan deal for the £48,000-a-week striker [Liverpool Echo], with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Beto is keen to leave Everton due to his lack of impact at Goodison Park, where he has struggled to secure a regular starting spot behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Despite Calvert-Lewin’s inconsistent performances, both Sean Dyche and David Moyes have favored him over Beto.

A move away from Everton could benefit all parties, especially given the growing interest from Torino, despite Beto scoring just one Premier League goal this season. However, the structure of any potential loan deal may present an issue, as it may not provide Everton with the funds to secure a replacement before the window closes. It remains to be seen if Moyes will approve the move, particularly if talks with Torino progress.
