Nottingham Forest are reportedly working on securing a contract extension for standout full-back Neco Williams.

In recent months, the club has made significant efforts behind the scenes to tie down key players like Murillo and Chris Wood to long-term deals. Now, attention has shifted to former Liverpool defender Williams, whose current contract is set to expire next summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Forest are eager to keep the Wales international at the City Ground for the foreseeable future. In a post on X, Romano stated:

“Understand Nottingham Forest are working on extending Neco Williams’ contract, which expires in June 2026. The player has many admirers, but Forest are looking to stop any other interest with a new deal for the player who’s had an impressive season.”

Williams, who hails from Wrexham and turns 24 next month, was signed by former Forest manager Steve Cooper in July 2022 for a reported fee of £17 million. Since then, he has made 82 appearances for the Reds, cementing his place as a crucial member of the squad. Under current boss Nuno Espírito Santo, he has played a key role in Forest’s push for Champions League qualification and their progress in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, fellow full-back Ola Aina is also at the center of contract discussions, with speculation persisting over a potential new deal.

Back in September, Aina expressed his contentment at Forest, saying: “All I can say is I am really happy at Forest. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m building, the club’s building. Let’s just see what happens in the future.”

Although no official update has been provided since then, Aina recently reiterated his commitment in an interview with Sky Sports, making it clear that he feels settled at the club.

While Williams’ contract situation has flown somewhat under the radar, it appears that Forest’s hierarchy considers him a key player in their long-term plans as they look to build on an already successful campaign.
