Brighton Pull Back on Vuskovic Chase After Spurs Rebuff
There is growing confusion over Brighton’s next move regarding Luka Vuskovic, after Tottenham Hotspur firmly rejected two separate bids for the young defender.
The second of those offers reportedly totaled £30 million, but it still fell significantly short of what Spurs believe the 19-year-old is worth. Vuskovic’s reputation has soared over the past year, largely due to an impressive loan spell with Hamburg, and Tottenham are said to value him at around £60 million if they were to consider a sale. The teenager is also believed to be eager for consistent first-team football next season.
Seagulls Unlikely to Return with Third Bid
Just yesterday, reports suggested that Fabian Hurzeler’s side were gearing up to submit a third proposal, having made Vuskovic their primary summer target. However, a fresh update from BBC Sport contradicts those claims, indicating that Brighton have no plans to lodge another offer—at least for the time being.
While the Seagulls are still monitoring the defender’s situation, they are not expected to make an immediate move, even though it has been widely suggested that personal terms between the player and Brighton were already agreed.
Brighton Satisfied with Van Hecke Deal
In other news, BBC Sport also reports that Brighton are highly content with the terms secured for Jan Paul van Hecke, who is on the verge of completing a £52 million transfer to Tottenham. The club views the fee as a major win, especially given that the Dutch centre-back had just one year remaining on his contract.
Adding to their satisfaction, Brighton successfully negotiated a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. Multiple sources have confirmed that the Seagulls will retain 20% of any future transfer fee involving Van Hecke.
