Definitely a chance’: £7m Vitor Pereira favourite could yet leave Wolves this summer – journalist

Wolves’ squad could look very different for the 2025/26 season, with a number of players set to leave the club in the next transfer window.

Several players are out of contract in the summer.

Nelson Semedo is likely to leave Wolves, and the captain could be followed by Pablo Sarabia. Craig Dawson is also set to move on.

Then Wolves could sell some players up top, with Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Sam Johnston all linked with exits.

But now there has been a suggestion that Jose Sa could still leave Wolves this summer.

Jose Sa has suggested that Wolves could leave this summer

Wolves have had a bit of a strange goalkeeping situation at the start of the season.

The club went all out and signed Sam Johnston from Crystal Palace for around £10m, suggesting he would become the new number one straight away.

That happened initially, but Sa – who cost Wolves just under £7m in 2021 (Sky Sports) – has since taken his place.

Johnstone has made the odd appearance here and there, but under Pereira, Sa has been first choice. Apart from the Manchester United game, when he picked up an injury in the warm-up, Sa has played every Premier League game since his compatriot arrived, suggesting he is a big fan of his.

But that doesn’t mean he will stay this summer.

Journalist Liam Keen said on the E&S podcast: “I definitely think there is a possibility of some movement there in the summer – I don’t think Jose Sa is 100 per cent staying.

“I don’t think it can be a priority – I think there are other things Wolves need to look at first. And when you combine that with Bentley. Can Wolves afford to spend the summer completely overhauling their goalkeeping department and lose Johnston, Sa and Bentley in one summer – I’m not sure that would necessarily be a wise decision.”

Wolves should consider signing a new first-choice goalkeeper

Wolves will have a lot of work to do in the next transfer window and a new goalkeeper should not be a priority.

But the club should not rule out finding a new number one.

Sa – once surprisingly named in Kevin De Bruyne’s dream five – is a proven Premier League goalkeeper, but we all know he can make rash decisions at times. However, he hasn’t been as chaotic since Pereira arrived.

But if Wolves are to progress to the next level, they need to consider a new number one. Yahia Fofana is a player Wolves are said to be interested in.

But if Sa wants to stay, other positions must be prioritized.
