View: 1/10 ace woeful, 8/10 shines — Everton player ratings v Bournemouth

James Tarkowski had a game to forget as Everton lost 2-0 to Bournemouth in the FA Cup at Goodison Park.

The Toffees welcomed the Cherries home in the fourth round of the competition as David Moyes looked to build on the three consecutive Premier League victories.

While the Scottish manager didn’t make many changes to his starting lineup, the Blues looked out of sorts in the fixture.

Bournemouth had a strong start as they created an opportunity just seconds into the game.

Antoine Semenyo scored a penalty in the 23rd minute, and Daniel Jebbison doubled the Cherries’ lead just before the break.

Here, Goodison News have given their player ratings for the match:

Jordan Pickford – 4

Could have been better in his decision-making before Tarkowski conceded the first penalty. Made a few decent saves but, overall, had a poor game as he looked uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

Jake O’Brien – 5

Once again deployed on the right but was unable to contribute much in the final third with Everton looking for goals, as is expected from a natural centre-back. Was unlucky not to score his header.

James Tarkowski woeful against Bournemouth

James Tarkowski – 1

Was arguably the worst player on the pitch for the Toffees as he conceded the penalty and gifted Bournemouth their second goal with a misplaced pass.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 6

Looked the better of the two centre-backs as he hardly let the Cherries’ attackers get past him. Was let down by the performance of his defensive partner.

Ashley Young – 4

Had a mixed game as he looked to provide some attacking impetus and keep the scoreline within reach, but he wasn’t his best at either end of the pitch.

Idrissa Gueye (Substituted in the 84th minute) – 5

His passing in the game could have been a lot better, as he struggled to complete a lot of his passes. The midfielder did put in a decent shift in the second half as the Merseysiders dominated the game for large periods.

James Garner (Substituted in the 74th minute) – 5

Kept the ball ticking in the middle of the park but hardly had any influence when it came to creating opportunities in the final third.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (Substituted in the 65th minute) – 5

Showed some much-needed urgency after the break and made important runs into the box. The 32-year-old had nothing to show for his efforts, though.

Jesper Lindstrom (Substituted in the 65th minute) – 4

Tried to make things happen by being a link between the midfield and attack on occasions but lacked quality in the final third to make much of a difference.

Iliman Ndiaye shines once again for Everton v Bournemouth

Iliman Ndiaye – 8

Was arguably the best player on the pitch for the Blues as he showcased his dribbling ability on multiple occasions and looked to change the tide of the game.

Beto – 3

While the striker hardly had any service, he was an anonymous figure for most of the fixture and failed to provide a focal point for the Merseyside outfit’s attack. His brace in the 4-0 win over Leicester City will now be long forgotten.

Substitutes:

Carlos Alcaraz – 7

Made his debut for the Toffees and showed glimpses of his talent on a few occasions. Hit the upright with an impressive free kick.

Jack Harrison – 6

Played in some impressive crosses, but his teammates failed to make the most of it.

Tim Iroegbunam – 4

Michael Keane – N/A

Played as a centre-forward in the final minutes of the game.
