Callum Wilson delivers public message after official Newcastle United announcement

The outgoings at Newcastle United continue during the January transfer window.

A significant focus has been placed on loan departures from St James’ Park, with Charlie McArthur moving to Carlisle United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Travis Hernes has also been loaned out, heading to Denmark to join Aalborg.

Now, another departure has been confirmed, with Paul Mitchell ensuring the Newcastle United youngsters gain valuable first-team experience at this stage of their careers.

Alex Murphy has left Newcastle United on loan to join Bolton Wanderers.

Murphy recently expressed his desire for a loan move, and it has now been confirmed that he will spend the remainder of the season at Bolton. This marks his first loan spell since joining Newcastle.

For Murphy, it’s a significant opportunity, having been involved with the first team throughout the season. He made his debut in the Premier League last year, making two appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.

Now moving to League One with Bolton, Murphy shared his excitement on Instagram, posting a photo from his unveiling and writing, “Buzzing to be here, can’t wait to get going.”

His post received well wishes from various teammates, including Newcastle’s Callum Wilson, who commented, “Good luck bro.” Other messages of support came from Trevan Sanusi, Cathal Heffernan, Jamie Miley, and darts star Chris Dobey.

When will Alex Murphy make his Bolton debut?

Murphy could quickly feature for Bolton, with their next match on Tuesday night, January 21st, against Charlton Athletic at home. He is eligible to make his debut for the club.

Following that, Bolton will travel to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Murphy, who will wear the number three shirt, is eager to make an impact in his new role, and it remains to be seen whether he will play as a centre-back or left-back, as he is capable of excelling in both positions.
