Everton, now under the ownership of the Friedkin Group, are expected to be more active than usual in the January transfer window.
The club has recently confirmed the return of David Moyes to Goodison Park, a move that has already boosted morale despite a difficult run of results.
Currently, Everton are winless in their last five matches and are just two points above the relegation zone, making it clear that change was necessary.
While Moyes’ return brings hope for the future, immediate reinforcements are required, particularly in several key positions.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin linked to Atalanta, Armando Broja sidelined by injury, and Beto struggling for form, a new striker should be the top priority.
Additionally, the club is in need of a right-back, as both Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman approach the end of their contracts.
In line with this, it has been reported that Everton could be one of the Premier League clubs interested in former England full-back Kyle Walker-Peters.
Sky Sports reports that Walker-Peters, a right-back for Southampton, is attracting attention from several Premier League teams, including Leicester City and Brighton, with his contract set to expire in the summer.
Although Everton isn’t explicitly mentioned, their need for a long-term right-back solution suggests they may be among the interested clubs.
Everton has also been linked with Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey in recent months, indicating they are actively seeking to strengthen this position.
Southampton manager Ivan Juric has expressed his desire to keep Walker-Peters at the club, emphasizing his importance to the team.
Juric told the Daily Echo: “I think Kyle is a really good player and he’s playing really well. I think for the club it’s really important, in my opinion, that he stays here. I said what I think about the team to the club and now they will make their moves to see what they can do.”
Typically, players in the final six months of their contract may choose to let it run down to secure a larger signing-on fee as a free agent, making it unlikely that Everton will be able to secure Walker-Peters’ signature this month.
