YET ANOTHER ‘BATTLE’ TO SECURE BRIGHTON STRIKER AS JANUARY APPROACHES

Burnley are interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson on loan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Clarets are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the January transfer window, and Ferguson has emerged as a top target.

The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been on the books at Brighton since 2021, but his immediate future at the AMEX Stadium is uncertain.

Ferguson has made 73 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, scoring 17 goals. However, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter this season, and a loan move to Burnley could provide him with the opportunity to play regular football.

Burnley are currently sat in third place in the Championship table, behind Sunderland and Sheffield United, and are eyeing promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Clarets have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks, but Ferguson’s emergence as a target is a significant development.

Leicester City are also reportedly interested in signing Ferguson, which could complicate Burnley’s attempts to land the striker.

Brighton are under no pressure to sell Ferguson, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2029. However, if they are willing to let him leave on loan, Burnley will face competition from Leicester City for his signature.

Ferguson’s potential arrival at Turf Moor would be a significant boost to Burnley’s promotion hopes. The Clarets have been inconsistent in front of goal this season, and Ferguson’s addition could provide them with the firepower they need to challenge for the top two.

Burnley manager Scott Parker will be hoping to persuade Brighton to let Ferguson join the club on loan, but the Seagulls may be reluctant to let him drop into the second tier.

Parker has been impressed with Ferguson’s development at Brighton and believes he has the potential to make a significant impact at Burnley. “Evan is a talented young player who has already shown his quality in the Premier League,” Parker said. “We believe he would be a great addition to our squad and would help us to achieve our goals this season.”

Ferguson’s agent has also confirmed that there is interest in the player from several clubs, including Burnley and Leicester City. “Evan is a sought-after player and there are several clubs interested in signing him,” the agent said. “We will consider all options and make a decision that is in the best interests of Evan’s career.”

The transfer saga is set to continue in the coming weeks, with Burnley and Leicester City likely to make their moves for Ferguson in the January transfer window. One thing is certain, however – Ferguson’s future is likely to be a major talking point in the world of football in the coming months.
