According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of securing their third major signing of the summer within the next 72 hours.
After narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship on the final day of the Premier League season, Spurs’ leadership is working hard to give manager Roberto De Zerbi a stronger squad capable of climbing the table next season.
Tottenham have already brought in two experienced Premier League free agents, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, to bolster a defense that has conceded 183 top-flight goals over the past three campaigns.
However, ENIC is far from finished, with potential additions still planned in goal, defense, midfield, and attack.
The North London club is in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion over center-back Jan Paul van Hecke and with Manchester City over winger Savinho. They are also prepared to step up interest in City goalkeeper James Trafford if Guglielmo Vicario leaves the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming months.
But Spurs are keen to complete one deal as soon as possible—one that could have major implications for a current key player.
Tottenham Eyeing Van Hecke Deal Before Sunday
The player Spurs are pushing hardest to sign is Jan Paul van Hecke, who has reportedly decided that Tottenham is his only summer destination.
Personal terms are said to be in place, and now Spurs must agree on a fee with Brighton—a club known for tough negotiations.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Tottenham have already had two bids rejected for the Dutch international and are planning a third. A separate report from the BBC claims Brighton values the 26-year-old at £70 million, even though he has just one year left on his contract at the Amex Stadium.
As reported by The Athletic, Spurs hope to finalize the deal before the Netherlands’ first World Cup group match against Japan on Sunday night.
Van Hecke Arrival Could Impact Two Players
If Van Hecke joins Senesi at Spurs, De Zerbi’s center-back options would include the new duo, captain Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Kevin Danso, and Luka Vuskovic.
Following months of speculation, it increasingly appears Romero is likely to leave Tottenham this summer.
Even if the Argentine departs, it’s plausible at least one more center-back could exit, given that Van Hecke, Senesi, and Van de Ven would likely be the preferred choices.
The situation of 19-year-old Luka Vuskovic—regarded as one of Europe’s finest young defenders, as shown during his impressive loan at Hamburg this season—is especially intriguing.
If Van Hecke signs, Vuskovic would struggle for minutes, leaving Tottenham and the player with a decision: fight for a place with limited playing time or seek another exit, either on loan or permanently.
