Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Roberto De Zerbi is the man to bring success back to Spurs. Redknapp has boldly predicted that Tottenham will secure a top-six finish next season under the Italian, stating that De Zerbi has already shown he can turn the club around following one of its most difficult campaigns in recent memory.
Redknapp, who had earlier voiced fears about Tottenham potentially being dragged into a relegation fight during the season’s darkest moments, has been impressed by the impact De Zerbi has made since his arrival—both on the pitch and in the direction of the summer rebuild. Speaking to Spurs Daily on X, Redknapp said:
“I think the new manager has sorted it out. Tottenham next year, for sure they’ll be a top-six team. De Zerbi, I like him. He did a great job at Brighton. I think next year they’ll be up there.”
His praise carries weight, given his firsthand experience managing Spurs, where he led the club to a fourth-place Premier League finish. Redknapp understands the pressures and standards of the role better than most.
His confidence echoes a wider view among pundits and former players that De Zerbi’s strong finish last season—seven points from the final seven league games, a revitalized dressing room, and an attacking style that lifted supporters’ spirits—was just a glimpse of what’s to come.
The mention of Brighton is key to Redknapp’s optimism. There, De Zerbi transformed a club with limited resources and no recent top-flight pedigree into one of the league’s most technically respected sides in just one season. Pep Guardiola even called him one of the most influential managers of the last 20 years based on that achievement.
With promised investment, the signing of Andy Robertson, and more reinforcements on the way, Redknapp’s top-six prediction seems less like wishful thinking and more like a sensible expectation for a club with Tottenham’s stature, support, and a coach of De Zerbi’s caliber—given the right tools to succeed.
