Ben Foster says Nottingham Forest won’t make the Champions League, it’s all because of two things

Nottingham Forest Facing Doubters Amid Dip in Form

Nottingham Forest may be coming off the back of two consecutive defeats, but truth be told, they find themselves in a position they’ve thrived in all season—being underestimated.

The Reds have had an outstanding campaign so far and currently sit third in the Premier League. However, that position could change if Newcastle win their game in hand against Crystal Palace this evening.

Despite Micah Richards coming to Forest’s defence following their 1-0 loss to Everton on Saturday, the tide is turning among pundits. Many are beginning to question whether Nuno Espirito Santo can truly guide this team to the Champions League.

Among the latest to weigh in is Ben Foster. Although he’s been largely supportive of Forest throughout the 2024/25 season, his latest assessment won’t sit well with fans.

Ben Foster Predicts Forest Will Fall Short

Speaking on his podcast, The Cycling GK, the former Premier League keeper suggested that Forest may fall just short of a Champions League spot. With both Newcastle and Aston Villa winning their last four league games, Foster believes Forest’s recent stumbles could be costly.

“I think Forest drop out, I really do,” he said. “I think Villa will do it. Newcastle are on fire and they’re nailed on now for me. I just think Forest will run out of gas. It’s a massive opportunity to make the Champions League. It’s not quite now or never, but it feels like a huge moment for these teams with five places available.”

Everything Still to Play For

Fortunately, Forest have had a nine-day break to regroup before a crucial trip to Tottenham on Monday. A strong performance is needed, and Nuno will be hoping to get his side back to the fundamentals that have brought them success so far.

Upcoming Fixtures:

Monday 21st April – Tottenham (A) – 20:00

Thursday 1st May – Brentford (H) – 19:30

Monday 5th May – Crystal Palace (A) – 20:00

Sunday 11th May – Leicester (H) – 14:15

Sunday 18th May – West Ham (A) – 15:00

Sunday 25th May – Chelsea (H) – 16:00

With so much still at stake, it’s no surprise that opinions are shifting and pressure is mounting. But it’s worth remembering that earlier in the season, Forest were being written off too—and look where that got them.

As always in a tightly contested Premier League run-in, there will be highs and lows. The key for Forest now is to stay composed, focused, and ready for the fight.
