Rangers fell to a bitterly disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Hibernian, and there were also some controversial refereeing decisions.
Goals from Dylan Levitt and Martin Boyle stunned Ibrox as Rangers were well below par.
Although the game had little bearing on the league table, it encapsulated the miserable domestic campaign Gers fans have endured all season.
There were some controversial moments as referee Don Robertson had an eventful game, which saw Cyriel Dessers also accused of diving, and the verdicts are in over two key events.
Gallagher explains refereeing decisions in Rangers defeat
Boyle‘s goal was initially disallowed on suspicion of offside, but VAR intervened to allow the goal, and it is claimed that this was the perfect use of VAR.
Speaking on Sky Sports Ref Watch (April 7, 11.35am), former referee Gallagher gave his verdict on two incidents affecting Rangers against Hibernian.

“Yeah. This is what VAR is for – he’s in his own half. Good intervention and goal given, correctly,” he stated of Hibernian’s second goal.
Hibernian also appealed for a penalty for handball against James Tavernier, but Gallagher claimed that this was rightly turned down.
“I’d prefer this not to be given as it’s not handball. I don’t think anyone thinks that’s a penalty,” he stated of the incident.
Rangers let themselves down against Hibernian
Although there were some contentious decisions in the match against Hibs, none were impactful on the result, and Rangers only have themselves to blame for losing.
The entire team was well below the required level, and Barry Ferguson was furious at the attitude of some of his players after the game.
Losing to Hibs was the worst possible preparation for the upcoming Europa League quarter-finals against Athletic Bilbao.
Rangers’ entire season now rests on these two European matches, but if they play like they did against Hibs, they will stand no chance against the Basque side, who are currently fourth in LaLiga.
The domestic form at Ibrox has been disastrous this season, but the hope remains that Rangers can raise their game in Europe, as seen in their victory over Fenerbahce in the round of 16.
