A Premier League club is reportedly interested in signing a “really tough” Celtic player at the end of the season, according to former scout Bryan King.
Celtic’s domestic dominance continues as transfer rumors intensify
It looks set to be another memorable season at Parkhead, with the Hoops once again cruising toward Scottish Premiership title glory. They’ve already secured the Scottish League Cup after defeating rivals Rangers on penalties in December.
On Saturday, Celtic kept their Scottish Cup hopes alive with a 2-0 victory at home to Hibernian in the quarter-finals, thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah.
Despite their current dominance, Celtic may still need to make new signings in the summer transfer window. Reports suggest they are keen on acquiring highly-rated young Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller, a player with a bright future ahead as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad for European competition.
There has also been talk of a permanent move for Jeffrey Schlupp, who joined Celtic on loan from Crystal Palace in January. With his future uncertain, Schlupp may feel a move away from the Eagles makes sense once the current season ends.
Celtic defender linked with Premier League exit
Speaking to Goodison News, former Everton scout Bryan King suggested that Everton could make a move for Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer, particularly considering David Moyes’ past connections with the club.
“Moyes started his career at Celtic, so they’ll likely part ways with one of their centre-backs,” King said. “If Carter-Vickers is a potential replacement, Moyes will certainly be interested in him, regardless of what the cost may be.”
With the futures of Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Keane at Goodison Park uncertain, Carter-Vickers is seen as a solid replacement. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ defense, and the thought of losing him would be concerning for the Celtic manager.
This season, Carter-Vickers has completed 94.6% of his passes in 23 Scottish Premiership appearances, demonstrating his quality on the ball. He has also averaged four aerial duel wins per game.
Rodgers praised his mental strength following a rare mistake at home against Club Brugge earlier in the season, saying: “He’s a really, really tough character. He’s a great guy, he picked himself up, was aggressive, and showed real bravery in the second half, leading the attack.”
The allure of the Premier League could tempt Carter-Vickers, whose contract with Celtic runs until the summer of 2029. If he decides to leave, Celtic will be in a strong position to demand a significant fee.
