The Nigerian defensive midfielder has been with Leicester since 2017, when he made the move from Belgian club Genk.
Ndidi has played nearly 300 matches for the Premier League side and was a key figure in the team earlier this season, but has been sidelined since mid-December due to a hamstring injury.
Now back from injury, Piper believes Ndidi is a “monster” when he’s at his best.
The former Leicester player also suggested that if Ndidi’s ball control was more refined, he could easily be playing at a club like Real Madrid.
“He’s a monster when he’s at his peak,” Piper said on When You’re Smiling.
“About four or five seasons ago, I thought he was one of the best in the league.
“The one area where his game falls short is his ability with the ball at his feet—playing forward in tight spaces and his passing range.
“Otherwise, he’d be playing somewhere like Real Madrid.
“Honestly, that’s how good he is when he’s on top of his game.”
Currently sitting third from the bottom in the league, Ndidi will be crucial in helping Leicester avoid relegation with his quality and leadership on the pitch.
