Since David Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, Everton have been on a surge up the league.
Everton’s 4-0 win against Leicester City on the weekend marked their third in a row, putting them nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Moyes has completely reinvented a number of players who were pushed aside by Sean Dyche, none more so than Beto.
The towering frontman netted a brace against the Foxes as Moyes’ side played into his strengths, feeding balls in behind the back four for him to run onto.
There’s a genuine belief Everton could now push up into mid-table and with that said, here are our three predictions for the rest of the season.
Everton replace Kevin Thelwell with Dan Ashworth
It’s no secret the Friedkin’s are likely to replace sporting director Kevin Thelwell in the summer.
Thelwell is out of contract at the end of the season and there’s been no suggestion of his deal being renewed up to now.
So, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see Everton agree a pre-contract agreement with Dan Ashworth to replace him.
After his shock Manchester United exit last year, it was reported that The Friedkin Group were interested in appointing Ashworth.
One to keep an eye on.
Martin Sherif makes his senior debut
With Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both sidelined through injury, that leaves Beto as the only fit and available senior striker at the club.
So, under-21s forward Martin Sherif could get his big break and make his debut in the coming weeks having already been named on the bench in three of the last four games.
Sherif, who celebrated his 18th birthday last summer, has been capped at youth level by the Netherlands, so he has pedigree in the academy space.
Everton snatch top 10 finish
At the turn of the year, the focus at Everton was to just simply survive.
Dyche’s side were slipping dangerously close to the relegation zone before Moyes took over, but since then, the club have been on a rapid rise up the league.
There’s still a long way to go, but given their current form, there’s every chance Everton could sneak into the top 10 before the end of the season.
They’re currently eight points off 10th-placed Brighton with a game in hand, so it’s certainly doable.
