Caleb Okoli’s playing time at Leicester City has significantly diminished under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s management. The Italian defender has played just 48 minutes in the Premier League since the new Foxes boss took charge, leading to speculation about a potential move to Parma.
Interest in Okoli seems to be growing, with Serie A club Cagliari also reportedly keen to sign him during the current January transfer window. According to TuttoCagliari, the Sardinian club is looking to secure Okoli on a dry loan deal and has already engaged in talks with his agent, Alessandro Barison.
Barison confirmed that discussions about an exit have taken place, and the defender’s future remains uncertain. “Yes, for the moment there has been a negotiation. Let’s see what happens between now and the end of the market,” Barison stated.
The report also mentions that Cagliari had previously tried to sign Okoli before his move to Leicester from Atalanta. Whether the 23-year-old will seek a move remains to be seen, but with his limited game time at Leicester, a loan move could offer him more playing opportunities.
Since Cagliari is interested in a dry loan, Okoli could return to Leicester in the summer as a more experienced player.
