Aston Villa signing ‘about to be official’ – Manager says it’s ‘99%’, flown to England

Aston Villa is set to finalize several deals in the coming days, which will likely lead to multiple announcements from the Premier League club.

The first of these could be the arrival of Andrés García from Levante. Over the past few days, we’ve been following the story from Spain and Portugal as Monchi worked to secure the player, successfully pulling him away from Sporting CP.

For the Portuguese club, it’s a particularly frustrating situation, as this marks the second time in a week they’ve lost out on a right-back. Initially, they were set to sign Alberto Costa from Vitória de Guimarães, but Juventus swooped in at the last moment, completing the transfer in about 48 hours.

Andrés García was their next target, but Aston Villa has now stepped in.

According to Sunday’s edition of SuperDeporte, a local newspaper in Levante, the 21-year-old’s move is “about to happen” and “about to be official,” with a fee set at €7m, plus up to €2.25m in potential bonuses.

AS reports that Levante’s 3-1 win over Granada on Saturday could help ease the pain of losing such a talented player.

Levante manager Julian Calero commented, “I am happy for the group. I do not want pessimism to set in. Of course, if players leave in the market, we won’t like it. Andrés is 99% out, but we will regroup and move forward.”
