Leicester City set seven-figure price-tag for player Alan Shearer has called ‘assured’

Things at Leicester City appear to be picking up in the 2025 January transfer window.

The Foxes have had a slow start to the winter window, with no new signings yet confirmed.

However, that is expected to change this week as Leicester City nears a deal for Woyo Coulibaly.

The right-back is set to join the club from Serie A side Parma in a move worth around £3m.

Coulibaly, primarily a right-back, will provide much-needed competition for James Justin but is also capable of playing at centre-back if required.

Leicester had shown interest in Kyle Walker-Peters to strengthen their right-back position but were reportedly put off by his £7m asking price.

In addition to potential signings, there could also be at least one departure from King Power Stadium in 2025.

Leicester City Sets Price for Wout Faes

Reports emerged on Monday suggesting Leicester defender Wout Faes could leave amid interest from clubs in Europe.

The Belgian joined Leicester in 2022 from Ligue 1’s Stade Reims and has made 101 appearances for the club so far.

Earlier this season, Alan Shearer praised Faes as “assured” when selecting him for his Premier League Team of the Week.

However, the 26-year-old has struggled for form this season and has fallen down the pecking order under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Following initial reports of a potential exit, journalist Tom Collomosse has stated that Leicester would consider offers in the region of £15m for Faes.

Other Potential Departures from Leicester City

While Faes’ potential departure makes sense given his recent form, there could be additional exits from the club.

Hamza Choudhury is expected to join Sheffield United on loan after struggling to make an impact in the Premier League this season.

Cabeb Okoli, despite only joining Leicester over the summer, has also been linked with a move away from the club.

If both Okoli and Faes depart, it seems likely that Van Nistelrooy will need to sign two centre-backs this month.
