Roy Keane says something has changed about David Moyes as he makes his Everton return

In just a few weeks, Everton fans have witnessed The Friedkin Group’s takeover, Sean Dyche’s dismissal, and now the appointment of David Moyes.

While the team’s season has started off sluggishly, these significant changes are being made to help turn things around.

Moyes has been offered a two-year contract following discussions that took place after Dyche’s sacking.

The 60-year-old will take over with Everton sitting 16th in the Premier League, without a league win so far this year.

Moyes is also expected to receive support in January with new signings, as Alan Shearer believes the manager will demand reinforcements.

Roy Keane, along with other pundits, has weighed in on the appointment.

Keane expressed confidence that Moyes will guide Everton away from relegation, calling him a “safe pair of hands” with a strong understanding of the club. Ian Wright also echoed similar sentiments, hopeful that Moyes will turn things around.

When asked about the potential pitfalls of returning to a former club, Keane noted that Moyes, now with over 1,000 games of experience, has the expertise to succeed. He also highlighted the upcoming new stadium and the talent in Everton’s squad as positive factors.

Everton is targeting two January signings, particularly in attack, and Moyes faces a tough task in addressing this issue. However, Keane emphasized that the experienced manager knows exactly what the team needs to improve.

The decision to sack Dyche came after a poor run of form, and the Friedkin Group’s quick decision-making is evident. There’s even speculation that Everton might soon part ways with sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

Even if Dyche had managed to keep the team in the Premier League, his contract was set to expire at season’s end. Dyche’s recent discussions with the Friedkins may have foreshadowed his departure, as offering Moyes a two-year deal signals the group’s trust in the new manager, something they were unwilling to extend to Dyche.
