Nottingham Forest secured a 3-0 victory over Wolves earlier this week, moving them level on points with second-placed Arsenal and boosting their hopes of a European finish this season.
The win has opened up a four-point gap between Forest and Chelsea, while Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are also six points ahead of sixth-placed Manchester City. They are positioned well above both Tottenham and Manchester United in the standings.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, expressed that qualifying for Europe would be a dream come true for both him and the club. He stated, “A dream come true. Sometimes it happens, and you have to believe in it. We will give our all to bring this satisfaction to our fans.”
When asked about the reasons behind the team’s impressive form this season, Marinakis attributed it to the hard work, choosing the right people, and the support of the fans. “Our people in Greece carry us, but the atmosphere is also fantastic in Nottingham. In our stadium, you can feel the history of a club that has won the European Cup,” he said.
He added, “It’s a great satisfaction that rewards our work. During pre-season, the results reassured us, and we were confident, but the players have exceeded expectations. There’s a great team spirit between the older and younger players.”
Marinakis has demonstrated a deep commitment to Nottingham Forest, evident in the club’s investments in transfers since their return to the Premier League.
This season, their strong defensive structure has been key, with Forest conceding the second fewest goals (19). While they have scored fewer goals than any team in the top 12, their defense has been a standout.
Forest’s next match against Liverpool could prove crucial in their pursuit of European qualification.
