Another celebration against the Old Gold…: What Morgan Gibbs-White did after he scored past Wolves

Wolves suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday night to heighten their relegation fears.

Vitor Pereira picked up his first loss at the Old Gold as the hosts were unable to find the net despite a flurry of chances.

After Morgan Gibbs-White’s opener, Wolves had plenty of chances to equaliser but couldn’t force the ball in before Chris Wood netted the visitors second.

Forest then added a third late on to keep the Old Gold just above the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference.

One of the most frustrating parts of the night for fans was likely Gibbs-White’s opener, especially with how he celebrated the goal.

Morgan Gibbs-White celebrates in front of the South Bank after netting opener vs Wolves

It is no secret that Gibbs-White is not a popular player around Wolverhampton.

Since his transfer away from the Old Gold to Nottingham Forest in 2022, the fans and the England international have continuously clashed.

Last season, Gibbs-White taunted the Wolves fans after he scored in a 2-2 draw back in April.

Now, he has quickly repeated this feat as he netted the opener against Wolves just seven minutes in at Molineux.

As a result, the midfielder quickly jogged over to the South Bank where he put his fingers in his ears in front of the annoyed home fans.

Morgan Gibbs-White has burnt all bridges at Wolves

It is safe to say that Gibbs-White’s popularity at Molineux will never recover. It’s a shame to see the club’s only homegrown success in recent years now divide fans so heavily.

Both parties are not innocent in this, with the fans continuously directing chants at the midfielder.

The transfer in 2022 clearly worked out for both teams. Forest have arguably got one of the most in-form players in the league at the moment while Wolves bagged £25 million for someone who didn’t play.

Hopefully, in the future, both parties can put aside their differences but this is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
