Joe Thomas admits he found Sean Dyche’s comments about the second-half performance of Everton in their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest “peculiar”.
The Toffees boss said that even though the Merseyside outfit lost, he believed that his team were the more dominant of the two in the second half.
This sparked a reaction from Liverpool Echo journalist Thomas (4 January) who seemed to be shocked by what the 53-year-old had said.
“I thought that was a peculiar comment. I didn’t see anything that suggested Everton were ever in control in that game,” he wrote via his personal X account.
Sean Dyche needs to get Everton back to winning ways
Everton exited Goodison Park rather red-faced on 29 December as the Toffees were the victims of a 2-0 defeat from Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
They were out-classed on all fronts with the Merseyside outfit’s usually solid defensive line seeming to get broken down with ease.
Of course, Forest are in the form of their life at the moment as they sit near the top of the table in third place.
And while Nuno’s men are largely better than Dyche’s on all fronts, it still feels like Everton could have done more to get something out of the game, especially since they’re currently 16th in the top flight.
At the moment, the future doesn’t look all that bright for Everton as the club are sitting on a slim two-point cushion from 18th-placed Ipswich Town.
However, if Dyche can find a way to get his men firing and perhaps back to winning ways, their fortunes could be turned around overnight.
