Ruud van Nistelrooy reveals what ‘hurt’ him most about Leicester City defeat

Ruud van Nistelrooy was on the losing side for a fourth game in a row as his Leicester City side were beaten by Manchester City.

Despite several Leicester stars impressing, the Foxes fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Premier League champions.

To add salt to the wounds, a last minute equaliser from Wolves at Tottenham Hotspur leaves Leicester two points adrift from safety.

The loss also means Van Nistelrooy has matched an unwanted 21-year record for consecutive defeats, despite many claiming it was the Foxes’ best performance of the season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy on latest Leicester City defeat

After his winning start in charge of Leicester, the Foxes boss has now lost four games on the trot.

There have been clear signs of improvement in the last two games and the Dutchman admitted that the fact his side weren’t rewarded for their performance was difficult to take.

Asked if he took plenty away from the game, he said: “Yeah, I did. That’s why it hurts that we didn’t take anything from the game, because of the performance.

We invested a lot, the players did, in getting a result in a certain way. It was excellent play. It was great play out from the back into the midfielders and final third, creating chances.

“It’s a shame. I wish we could have taken something from the game because of the performance the players put in today.”

Van Nistelrooy was right, there were plenty of positives to take away from the Leicester performance, none more so than how Bilal El Khannouss played.

El Khannouss caught the eye of Leicester fans once again and the Dutchman – who has been a long-time fan of the yougster – was impressed once again.

“He was good, he was excellent. It suits him as well, the way we’re trying to play,” the Leicester manager said.

“I think Bilal deserves a big compliment today, for his work-rate off the ball and on the ball for how skilful and technical he is.”
