Slaven Bilic Offers Words of Wisdom: ‘Don’t Write Off Lopetegui Yet, Give Him the Chance to Prove Himself’

West Ham United Urged to Stand by Under-Fire Lopetegui

As pressure mounts on Julen Lopetegui following West Ham United’s sluggish start to the season, calls for patience have come from two respected voices in football.

“A manager needs time to settle, to gel the squad, and to implement his ideas,” said Slaven Bilic, ex-West Ham manager. “It’s too early to judge Lopetegui. He deserves more time.”

A former England international echoed Bilic’s sentiments on talkSPORT: “With only 11 games gone, it’s too soon to make a judgment on Lopetegui’s future. The board made a bold decision to replace David Moyes, and now they must give Lopetegui the opportunity to prove himself.”

Bilic, who managed West Ham from 2015 to 2017, emphasized the importance of stability. “Lopetegui needs the freedom to work without constant pressure. Give him until the end of the season, at least.”

“Lopetegui has a proven track record,” Bilic added. “He needs support, not skepticism. West Ham’s fans and board must trust the process and give him the chance to deliver.”

Lopetegui’s tenure has been marked by just three wins in 11 Premier League matches, sparking concerns among fans and pundits. However, Bilic believes the Spaniard can still turn the tide.

“The Premier League is unforgiving, but Lopetegui has the experience to navigate it,” Bilic noted. “He’s shown his quality at Sevilla and Spain’s national team. West Ham must stick by him.”

As West Ham approaches the busiest period of the season, Lopetegui’s future hangs precariously in the balance. Will the club heed the call for patience, or will the pressure become too much to bear?
