Everton are reportedly keen on signing Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey, whose contract expires in June 2025, according to sources close to the club.
Lamptey, 24, has made just one Premier League appearance this season and is said to be open to a new challenge away from the Amex Stadium. The Ghanaian international’s situation has alerted top-flight clubs, including Juventus, who are monitoring his availability.
The “absolutely lightning” right-back has struggled to break into Brighton’s starting XI, making only four appearances across all competitions. However, his pace and potential have caught the attention of Everton boss Sean Dyche, who is seeking to strengthen his defensive options.
Dyche has experimented with various right-backs, including Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman, James Garner, and Roman Dixon, but none have cemented their place. With Young and Coleman’s contracts also expiring next summer, Lamptey’s arrival could provide a long-term solution.
Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday highlighted their defensive vulnerabilities, and Dyche will be eager to address these issues in the January transfer window. A move for Lamptey could be a shrewd acquisition, given his pace and attacking prowess.
The Toffees face West Ham next, in a crucial match for both sides, before the international break. Dyche will be hoping to shore up his defence and ignite Everton’s season.
