Right-back Pedro Porro has committed his long-term future to Tottenham Hotspur, securing a lucrative new deal that places him among the club’s top earners. Porro has shared his excitement about the contract and made it clear he is “here to stay.”
With interest from Real Madrid and his former club Manchester City over the summer, Spurs moved quickly to secure the Spaniard on a lengthy agreement.
The 26-year-old has now been elevated to the wage bracket of the team’s highest-paid players. The contract is reported to run until 2031, with the club holding an option to extend it by an additional year.
Despite Tottenham’s recent difficulties, statistics show Porro has remained one of the Premier League’s most creative defenders. Since joining the north London side in early 2023, the full-back has made 152 appearances, recording 26 assists and 13 goals from defense.
He also played a key role both on and off the pitch under Roberto De Zerbi last season, helping Spurs avoid relegation.
Porro is currently at the World Cup with Spain ahead of their match against Cape Verde on Monday, and he recorded a brief video message for Tottenham supporters: “Hi Spurs fans, I’m so happy to sign the new contract. Can’t wait to see you next season. Come on you Spurs!”
In an Instagram story following the announcement, he added three words that summed up his decision, along with a white heart representing Spurs: “Here to stay.”
De Zerbi commented on the new contract: “Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations.
Beyond his technical ability, I also admire his mentality. Every day he wants to work, learn, and improve—these are the traits that help players reach the highest level. He understands football intelligently and brings energy, intensity, and personality to the team.
This new deal is great news for everyone at the club. We believe in Pedro, and I’m excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”
Tottenham’s sporting director Johan Lange added: “Securing Pedro’s future was a key priority for us this summer.
Over the past three and a half years, he has made tremendous progress to become one of the best full-backs in the game, and the fact that he’s about to play in the World Cup for Spain proves that. Pedro is at an age where he can offer leadership and experience while still having room to grow.
His character, work ethic, and quality are exactly what we look for when building a squad capable of competing at the highest level, and we are delighted he has chosen to continue his journey with the club.”
