Tottenham Hotspur’s Summer Shopping Spree Could Include England Star Rashford
Tottenham are reportedly eyeing England World Cup forward Marcus Rashford as they push forward with an aggressive summer rebuilding project.
Spurs have hit the ground running in the current transfer window, having already secured three new arrivals—including a trio of free transfers and a marquee defensive capture in Jan Paul van Hecke.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi is determined to reshape the squad entirely, with the goal of avoiding a third consecutive bottom-half Premier League finish. While bolstering the midfield appears to be the top priority, the North London club is also exploring other avenues—and a Three Lions international has now surfaced as a potential target.
Romano Provides Update on Spurs’ Interest in Rashford
Reports over recent days have linked Tottenham with a move for Manchester United and England winger Rashford. Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano clarified the situation, stating that while a move isn’t impossible, there’s little progress at this stage.
“I’ve received many questions about Marcus Rashford and Tottenham,” Romano said. “There have been links, and people are asking if this deal could actually materialize—if Spurs are a real possibility for him.
My current understanding is that nothing is advanced, nothing is close, and nothing is realistic as of today. If that changes, I’ll be sure to update you, because Rashford’s future is very much open.
Manchester United need to clarify his situation soon, and several factors are keeping it unresolved. But for now, there’s no concrete or advanced talk with Tottenham.”
Why Barcelona Passed on Rashford
Rashford played a key role in Barcelona’s LaLiga title triumph last season, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. The England international had hoped his form would lead to a permanent move, but the Catalan club opted not to trigger their purchase option.
That doesn’t mean Barca have completely ruled out a future deal—but their immediate focus is on signing a new centre-forward to succeed Robert Lewandowski.
Aware that landing a top striker could prove expensive, Barcelona are prepared to wait and revisit Rashford’s situation later in the window if he remains available.
However, this wait-and-see approach has already cost them other targets, such as Bernardo Silva, who joined Real Madrid. With the buy clause now expired, Barca may end up paying a higher price—or risk losing Rashford to another club altogether.
