West Ham United have pulled off a stunning transfer coup, hijacking Juventus’ move for Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that the Hammers have booked a medical for Todibo, declaring “here we go” as the deal nears completion.

Todibo, accompanied by West Ham chief Tim Steidten, has jetted into London to undergo a medical today, paving the way for an initial loan switch to the London Stadium. The deal includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent for a reported £34million next summer.

In a dramatic turn of events, West Ham’s recruitment team has managed to secure Todibo’s signature, despite Juventus opening talks earlier in the transfer window. The Nice defender’s move to East London had seemed dead in the water, but the Hammers have now got their man.

Manager Julen Lopetegui has been backed heavily by the West Ham board this summer, with almost every target secured, often for significant fees. The pressure is on Lopetegui to deliver, but with this squad, there’s no reason why the Irons shouldn’t be pushing for Europe once again.
