West Ham United is gearing up for a major overhaul in their defensive ranks this summer, as sources have revealed that both Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma, stalwarts of their central defense, have been made available for transfer. According to Football Insider, the club is actively seeking to offload the duo, signaling a clear intent to revamp their defensive options ahead of the upcoming season.

Aguerd, 28, and Zouma, 29, have been informed that they can seek new clubs, provided potential suitors meet their respective valuation. It’s understood that West Ham values the pair at a combined £50 million, with agents now tasked to facilitate their departure from the London Stadium.

The decision comes amidst West Ham’s pursuit to secure two new starting center-backs, with attention turning towards acquiring Jean-Clair Todibo to complement recent acquisition Max Kilman. Reports suggest negotiations are underway to bolster a defense that struggled notably last season, conceding multiple high-scoring games despite clinching the Europa Conference League title.

Aguerd, in particular, has garnered interest from French clubs Rennes and Lens, both actively pursuing permanent deals for the Moroccan international. His contributions last season were overshadowed by defensive lapses, mirrored by Zouma’s inconsistent performances. While Zouma boasted a higher tackle success rate at 73.9%, his overall impact fell short with just 17 successful tackles in 33 Premier League outings.

The potential arrival of Todibo, highly sought after across Europe, could represent a significant upgrade for the Hammers’ defensive line. Should West Ham successfully fend off competition from Juventus for the Frenchman’s signature, it would mark a pivotal step in their summer recruitment drive.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, West Ham is reportedly in discussions with Everton over a possible deal involving a striker, underscoring their ambition to strengthen across multiple positions ahead of the new campaign.
