Tottenham Eyeing Second Man City Star After Quick Transfer Window Start
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to sign a second Manchester City player this summer, following a busy start to the transfer window.
Spurs have already secured Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively. Now, after reportedly showing interest in City winger Savinho, Tottenham are also setting their sights on England goalkeeper James Trafford.
Trafford returned to Manchester City last summer but saw limited action during the 2025/26 season, with Pep Guardiola’s side having also brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 23-year-old is now expected to leave in search of regular first-team football.
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are ‘primed to sign’ Trafford in a £40 million deal, as a potential replacement for Guglielmo Vicario, who has also been linked with a summer exit. The report adds that City have told Trafford he is ‘sellable this season’ and will listen to offers.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is said to be a big fan of Trafford, and if signed, the English shot-stopper would likely replace Antonin Kinsky as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
However, Spurs face competition from three Premier League rivals—Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Leeds United—all of whom are also interested in Trafford.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham are ‘advancing’ toward a £60 million deal for Savinho. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano added further insight, saying Savinho was keen on joining Spurs as early as a year ago.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Savinho was ready to go to Tottenham one year ago. But when Manchester City ask you to stay and Pep Guardiola shows trust, Savinho was happy to remain and even signed a new contract in September.
“Still, Tottenham attracted him then and they attract him now. On the player’s side, I don’t see big issues. That part could be done quite soon. Now it’s down to City and Tottenham to negotiate the fee. Tottenham are working on it, so let’s be patient and see what happens.”
