Fosun can learn from past Wolves error by signing ‘extraordinary’ free agent to replace Nelson Semedo

Nelson Semedo is weeks away from leaving Wolves after spending an incredible five years at Molineux.

The Portuguese international sees his contract expire at the end of this month, and unfortunately, Wolves are no closer to resolving the problem.

Although Wolves have generously offered Semedo a four-year contract, the 31-year-old has shown no urgency to decide his future.

Marseille are the latest to enter the race for Semedo, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United, Benfica and Galatasaray in recent weeks.

However, with his current deal set to run down, Vitor Pereira will be scouring the market for a replacement.

Fosun must learn from past transfer errors by signing Kyle Walker-Peters

After Wolves sold Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City on Monday, some fans complained that the Old Gold didn’t have a direct replacement lined up.

They had seen Bournemouth go for talented left-back Adrien Truffert to prepare for the departure of Milos Kerkez to Liverpool. Meanwhile, Brentford have lined up Nicolas Kuhn as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo.

Bournemouth and Brentford are being proactive in the market and not reactive after losing their best players, which is something Wolves are not known for.

As seen last summer, Wolves never signed a successor to Max Kilman in defence, leaving them short once the season began, and star winger Pedro Neto wasn’t replaced either.

Ahead of Semedo’s departure from Molineux, Fosun must learn from their previous errors by going all out to sign Kyle Walker-Peters.

The attacking full-back has just been released from his contract at Southampton after snubbing a new contract, and the 28-year-old is now on the radar of several Premier League clubs.

With Wolves looking for a versatile wing-back, capable of playing on either flank, Walker-Peters is the perfect successor to Semedo.

Walker-Peters ticks all the boxes for Wolves

Walker-Peters has been dubbed ‘extraordinary’ for his talent as a wing-back, and during Southampton’s relegation season last term, he was one of the few standout players.

The Englishman appeared 33 times in the Premier League and recorded two assists, with his versatility shining through.

Walker-Peters played multiple different positions, even operating as a centre-back, right wing-back, and left wing-back.

Not only that, but the former Tottenham man showed his quality in England’s top-flight, most notably his searing pace, ability to defend one-on-one situations and attacking threat.

Now that he’s available on a free transfer, Wolves can save millions on replacing Semedo by offering Walker-Peters a route straight back into the Premier League
