Pundit Michael Stewart has singled out Connor Barron for his poor defending in the lead-up to Hibernian’s second goal — a lapse that ultimately cost Rangers all three points.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene (17 May), Stewart said:
“Rangers simply don’t defend this well enough. Nicky Cadden has the best delivery in the country, bar none. Tavernier gets dragged out of position, and Connor Barron is far too slow — you can’t just stop five yards away, you have to close him down.”

Barron has featured regularly this season, making 46 appearances, but has failed to register a single goal and only contributed two assists.

A Full Rebuild Required at Ibrox

Rangers end the season without silverware and unable to mount a serious challenge to rivals Celtic. Saturday’s result was emblematic of their struggles, surrendering the lead twice to a Hibs side that exposed familiar defensive frailties.
