Efan Ekoku criticises Fulham’s Bernd Leno after Everton’s 3-1 win
Efan Ekoku was critical of Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno following a costly error in their 3-1 defeat to Everton at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
Despite taking an early lead, Fulham couldn’t hold on, as David Moyes’ side remained composed and executed their game plan effectively to claim all three points away from home.
Leno’s mistake gifts Everton a third goal
In the 73rd minute, Beto broke through Fulham’s defence and unleashed a shot on goal. It was a routine stop for most keepers, but Leno mishandled the effort, failing to either catch or effectively parry it.
The ball slipped through his fingers and rolled into the net, allowing Everton to extend their lead to 3-1.
Reacting on the Premier League world feed, BBC pundit Efan Ekoku didn’t hold back, stating at 4:34 pm on 10 May: “It just squirms under the keeper. Horrible mistake. It’s an awful error.”
Moyes’ tactics steer Everton to vital win
Everton’s victory highlighted the tactical acumen of David Moyes. Despite having just 36% possession and completing 232 fewer passes than Fulham, the Toffees made the most of their chances.
While Fulham had more of the ball, it was Everton who showed greater composure and ruthlessness in front of goal. Their disciplined defending and quick counter-attacks proved decisive.
This performance stood in stark contrast to earlier in the season under Sean Dyche, where Everton may have crumbled under pressure. Under Moyes, however, they remained resilient and unfazed, showing real belief to turn the game around.
