Moment Hagi slaps tunnel as Rangers vs Celtic sub frustration comes out

Ianis Hagi couldn’t help but vent his frustration as he slammed the tunnel after coming off injured for Rangers against Celtic.

The playmaker was brought on in the second half at Ibrox but had to be withdrawn after an injury shortly later.

Hagi first replaced Nedim Bajrami with 66 minutes on the clock. However, he was taken off just 17 minutes later in the 83rd minute.

Hagi had required treatment from Ibrox physios after going down in the box under a challenge from Callum McGregor.

The Celtic captain then appeared to accidentally land on Hagi, who was in clear discomfort as medics checked on an issue on his left leg.

Hagi had returned to his feet and broken into a slight jog to the side of the pitch, but had to be withdrawn.

Commentator Ian Crocker said on Sky Sports: “Ianis Hagi, having come on as a sub himself, hasn’t recovered from that challenge.”

Footage of Hagi leaving the pitch was then shown on the live broadcast with Hagi slapping the top of the tunnel as he walked back to the dressing room.

Ferguson was furious Rangers were not awarded a penalty as he bemoaned decisions during the derby tie.

Nick Walsh had waved play on before a VAR check quickly passed the incident with no need for intervention and the ref not called to the monitor.

Ferguson said: “If that’s in the middle of the pitch, it’s a foul. But it was in the box and it wasn’t given as a foul.

“I just need to move on quickly because I don’t want to start saying things that’s going to get me in trouble.”
