Wolves currently have three Brazilian players on international duty, with Joao Gomes joining Andre and Matheus Cunha in the squad.
No club has more representatives in the Brazil national team than Wolves, highlighting the level of talent available to Vitor Pereira.
Gomes was the last of the trio to receive a call-up, while Cunha has returned to the international stage for the first time since joining Wolves in January 2023. Meanwhile, Andre has become a regular fixture for the Selecao, earning 11 caps following his rise at Fluminense.
Andre Comments on Joao Gomes’ Future at Wolves
While on international duty, Andre expressed his excitement over Cunha’s selection for Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina. However, not all of his remarks will sit well with Wolves supporters.
Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil, Andre shared his admiration for Gomes, stating:
“I’m rooting for him a lot. We have this rapport on the field, and we’ve been able to play together. So I hope he continues to grow.”
He then offered his thoughts on Gomes’ future at Wolves, suggesting that his compatriot should move on sooner rather than later:
“I don’t think he should stay there [Wolves] for long. Given the great player he is, I believe he has bigger opportunities ahead.”
While many share the view that Gomes has the potential for greater challenges elsewhere, such comments may be disheartening for Wolves fans.
Gary O’Neil Made Similar Remarks About Matheus Cunha
Andre’s suggestion that Gomes could aim higher is unlikely to surprise supporters. Earlier this season, Gary O’Neil acknowledged that Cunha’s departure was likely inevitable—now, Gomes has joined the list of players tipped to leave Molineux.
While ambition is natural for players, Wolves are in the midst of an important project, one in which Gomes and Andre play a key role. Fans may feel that such public discussions about potential exits show a lack of respect for the club, particularly when it comes to transfer speculation.
