‘I love him’: Danny Murphy claims one Nottingham Forest star was unbelievable vs Ipswich

Nottingham Forest triumphed 4-2 over Ipswich Town in the Premier League, extending their lead to seven points ahead of the team in sixth place.

Anthony Elanga scored twice at Portman Road, with Nikola Milenkovic and Jota Silva also finding the net.

Forest are edging closer to securing Champions League qualification for next season, making the situation at the City Ground increasingly exciting.

It has been a challenging week for Forest players eligible for England, with Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson, and Callum Hudson-Odoi all overlooked by Thomas Tuchel. However, the trio remained professional in the match against Ipswich and helped secure a crucial three points.

Danny Murphy praised Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White, notably the biggest surprise in the England squad omission, took it all in stride and didn’t let it affect him. He remains vital to Forest’s push for a Champions League spot.

While some players depart to join their national teams, Gibbs-White can relax ahead of the FA Cup fixtures when domestic football resumes.

Murphy, who watched Forest dominate Ipswich in the first half, expressed his admiration for Gibbs-White’s performance on Match of the Day. He said, “I love him in a deeper role. He’s disciplined enough to play there. Although he’s been left out of the England squad and there’s been a lot of talk about it, he won’t be bothered. He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing.”

Morgan Gibbs-White’s performance against Ipswich:

Though it wasn’t his best match, Gibbs-White provided an assist for Silva’s goal – Forest’s fourth of the game.

It was a fantastic afternoon for Forest in East Anglia, following up their impressive victory over Manchester City last week.

Gibbs-White’s stats vs Ipswich:

Minutes played: 88

Assists: 1

Key passes: 3

Pass accuracy: 66.7%

Tackles: 3

Gibbs-White isn’t worried about his England snub and knows his time will come. At 25, he is in excellent form this season, and his challenge now is to help lead Forest to the Champions League in the 2025/26 campaign.
