Everton will be aiming to make a statement in the summer transfer market as they work to assemble a squad worthy of competing at their new stadium.
David Moyes has steered the Toffees to safety from Premier League relegation since his appointment in January.
Everton had a quiet January transfer window due to the ongoing influence of PSR over the club.
However, there is an understanding that this summer must be different, with several players set to depart at the end of their contracts.
Newcastle United is looking to emulate Everton’s stadium financing, but they could see one of their players move to Goodison Park this summer.
TBR Football’s Chief Transfer Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, shared his insight into Sean Longstaff’s future when speaking to Everton News.
Sean Longstaff Interested in Everton Move
Everton showed interest in Longstaff during the January transfer window, but no deal was reached. According to Bailey’s sources, the Toffees will make another attempt for the 27-year-old midfielder in the summer.
It is believed that a potential move to Bramley-Moore Dock would appeal to Longstaff, a product of Newcastle’s academy.
The midfielder had already expressed interest in joining Everton earlier in the year.

Moyes is reportedly a fan of Longstaff, but any move would depend on Everton meeting Newcastle’s valuation.
With just one year left on his contract at St. James’ Park going into the summer, Longstaff could be available for a transfer. In January, Newcastle were reportedly asking for around £12 million for the midfielder, who has seen limited playing time this season.
Jamie Carragher’s Thoughts on Longstaff
Longstaff has struggled to secure a regular spot in Eddie Howe’s lineup this season, especially with the return of Sandro Tonali. Although Howe rejected a January exit for Longstaff, the midfielder has featured for only 22 minutes in the Premier League since the transfer window closed.
Despite his limited playing time, Longstaff is highly regarded by former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher. After Newcastle’s Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain last season, Carragher praised the 27-year-old.
“I just wanted to mention Sean, how long ago was it I gave you a call? 12 months ago?” Carragher recalled. “Basically, my son was dealing with some injury problems, and he’d gone through similar ones. I didn’t know him but got his number, and we stayed in touch.”
Carragher continued, “He was brilliant on the phone, and we spoke about how, as a footballer, you have ups and downs, but you get your rewards if you put the work in. And tonight, mate, this is your reward for not only coming through the injury but also for the help you gave me and my son.”
