‘It’s a possibility’: Fabrizio Romano opens door for Leeds United to move for ‘monster’ striker

Leeds United could be about to smash their transfer record in the summer, providing they can get over the line in the Championship.

All was going so well for Leeds United and Daniel Farke after back-to-back wins against two close promotion rivals, the last being Sheffield United who the whites beat 3-1 at Bramall Lane in February.

The stage was set for Leeds to pull well clear at the top of the Championship table. But two games later and they’ve thrown away a five point lead at the top with Sheffield United in 2nd now level on points.

After a 1-1 draw with West Brom, Leeds then lost 1-0 at Portsmouth on Sunday as the ITV cameras filmed a rather dire Leeds performance, and gave a reminder to the rest of the Championship that the season is far from over.

There’s just a three point gap between Leeds and Burnley in 3rd now. But many will still back Leeds for promotion, given the strength of their side, and many will then back Leeds for a very strong summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano on Tammy Abraham’s future amid Leeds United links

Leeds United’s record signing remains that of Georginio Rutter who joined from Hoffenheim in a £35.5million deal in January 2023. But the club could smash that number this summer with a potential move for Tammy Abraham from Roma, who faces an uncertain summer ahead.

Reports ahead of the summer have revealed that Leeds United are interested in Abraham who’s currently on loan at AC Milan. Though he’s scored just twice in 22 Serie A games for the Rossoneri this season and it’s claimed that Milan don’t want to sign Abraham on a permanent deal.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Abraham could return to the Premier League this season. Although he suggests that Milan could still change their mind about the former Chelsea and England man, who says former Roma boss Jose Mourinho told him to be a ‘monster’ on the pitch.

Romano writes: “It’s a possibility [Abraham returning to England this summer], but all depends on Milan now. They must decide whether they want to keep him from Roma or let him go back to the club, and it will be up to the new director they’re about to appoint soon.”

Tammy Abraham’s stance on a return to England

Abraham left Chelsea to join Roma in a £34million deal in 2021. He’s since scored 37 goals in 120 games for the Italian outfit in what’s overall been a good decision to move out to Serie A.

And amid all this noise about his future, Abraham has given his stance on a return to England and it might not be good news for Leeds, nor for Everton and West Ham who are interested too.

The 27-year-old said he’s ‘living my dream’ playing out in Italy. He explained: “I’m a winner, I want to win. I believe you only live once, so always enjoy your time, try to play with a smile on your face. I’m living my dream.”

As Romano says, Milan’s change in directorship could play a huge role in what happens with Abraham this summer. Though his goals record in Milan doesn’t suggest that the club would jump at the chance to sign him.
