How David Moyes can transform £9m Everton star into the next Marouane Fellaini as promise made

David Moyes has a way of making players into brilliant options for Everton and has certainly created some examples already.

Jake O’Brien is someone who has had a revival at Everton, as Moyes is a fan of the Irishman.

Opting to play him right-back in preference to his normal centre-back position is a risky move, but it’s what the Scotsman does best.

Moyes said O’Brien will be a central defender, so it seems like a short-term fix, which is paying off dividends at the moment for the Toffees boss.

The defender is just one example, but now another star has emerged who could truly be unlocked by Moyes at Everton.

Tim Iroegbunam makes Everton promise under David Moyes

Tim Iroegbunam hasn’t had the start to life at Everton that he had hoped.

The midfielder returned to training after three months out, following an injury in October, as Iroegbunam’s £9m fee hasn’t been used to full effect just yet.

However, Iroegbunam promised there is ‘more to come’, signaling that the 21-year-old is feeling excited to work under Moyes.

Iroegbunam impressed Sean Dyche, but Moyes can take him to the next level.

How Moyes can make Iroegbunam the next Marouane Fellaini

Moyes had a brilliant relationship with legendary Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Much was made who would be a success at Everton under Moyes, as Abdoulaye Doucoure was dubbed the next ‘Fellaini’.

Doucoure has made a solid start, but Iroegbunam can only build on Fellaini’s legacy.

The Belgian was hard-hitting with tackles but also possessed glimpses of attacking ability, being an aerial threat.

Iroegbunam is only 6’0 but has already shown he can pop up in the crucial moments aerially, after grabbing the assist for James Tarkowski’s chaotic equaliser against Liverpool with a neat headed flick.

Although the midfielder’s profile suits more defensive attributes, Moyes can use Iroegbunam in an attacking sense, and his early contribution proves that.

Being only 21, Iroegbunam has age on his side, with Moyes being able to develop him in seasons to come.

Through his strength on the ball, darting runs into the box, and crunching tackles, the youngster can become the ultimate box-crashing midfielder like Fellaini at Everton.

It seems as though he’s fit and ready for the challenge, and Moyes has already seen a glimpse of how this transformation could work to a tee.
