Wolves were one of the Premier League’s busiest teams throughout the January transfer window. The Old Gold made three mid-season signings.
Vitor Pereira added to his defence and midfield after Wolves signed Emmanuel Agbadou before unveiling Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi on Deadline Day.
The winter additions made Wolves the Premier League’s second-highest January spenders behind only champions Manchester City.
And in line with Pereira’s long-term vision, departures are expected at the end of the season, and one player in particular is set to move on.
End of the road for Pablo Sarabia
Pablo Sarabia joined Wolves from Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer of 2023. The Spanish midfielder penned a two-and-a-half-year deal, meaning he is out of contract at the end of the season.
Sarabia’s performances this campaign have done nothing to suggest Wolves should offer him a renewed deal, forcing Nathan Judah and Liam Keen to predict the 32-year-old is approaching the end of his stay at Molineux.
“I just don’t see him [Sarabia] starting a lot of games between now and the end of May,” Keen said on the E&S podcast.
Judah added: “I’m almost certain that Pablo Sarabia won’t be a Wolves player next season. If you look at his career as a Wolves player, I think probably you’re going to say it’s been disappointing, I think that’s fair to say. It’s not been a success, has it?”
Sarabia’s deal is worth £90,000-a-week which puts him among Wolves’ best-paid players (Capology).
Vitor Pereira’s new era
Sarabia will not go down in the club’s history books.
The Spaniard has managed just 17 direct goal involvements from 64 appearances in all competitions. Although they paid Paris Saint-Germain just £4.4 million, Wolves would’ve expected a lot more from Sarabia.
Sarabia will be lucky to play for Wolves again following his disasterclass against Liverpool last time out.
Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s impact in the final third at Anfield will likely see both start this weekend against Bournemouth, leaving Sarabia’s standing within the squad under threat.
