David Moyes says there’s one Everton player who’s only ‘getting better’ after Crystal Palace win

Everton secured another victory under David Moyes, defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening. Beto and Carlos Alcaraz scored the goals, with the win extending the Toffees’ lead to 13 points above the relegation zone. This virtually ensures Premier League safety, vindicating the Friedkin Group’s decision to replace Sean Dyche with Moyes.

The former West Ham United manager has introduced a more attacking style of play and has been able to get more out of players who struggled under Dyche. After the win, Moyes singled out one Everton player in particular, praising his continuous improvement.

Moyes speaks highly of Beto

In his post-match press conference, Moyes praised Beto’s progress, highlighting that he’s becoming a stronger player with every match. “Everyone needs an opportunity in life, and in football, you need that chance,” the 61-year-old said. “I think he is getting better, and we are beginning to understand him more. He has done brilliantly well.”

Under Dyche, the 27-year-old started just once before the manager’s dismissal last month. Since Moyes took over, Beto has become his primary forward and is repaying the manager’s faith. He has now scored four goals in his last three games.

Beto’s performance against Crystal Palace

Beto’s all-around play continues to improve, as reflected in his statistics against Crystal Palace, according to Sofascore:

90 minutes played

56 touches

1 goal

2 key passes

3 successful dribbles

18 duels won

3 clearances

1 tackle

His performance was nearly a perfect display for a center-forward, especially his 18 duels won, many of which were aerial battles. Moyes must now be grateful he opted not to let Beto leave in January, especially with the player heavily linked to Torino during the transfer window.
