Junior Firpo pokes fun with eight-word message as Leeds United ace embarrasses Watford man

Leeds United striker Joel Piroe is one goal off topping the goalscoring charts in the Championship after his latest strike in the win over Watford.

Vicarage Road was a banana skin fixture for Leeds last season as they drew against the Hornets in their quest to catch Leicester and Ipswich, and their form this season suggested that it would again be a difficult game against Watford.

However, it was nothing of the sort as Leeds hammered in a 4-0 victory to move five clear at the top again.

Leeds were already three to the good heading into the second half, but kept up their intensity on the ball to try carve open the Hornets for another.

That goal came when Ao Tanaka ran circles around Tom Ince, before slipping Manor Solomon in down the left of the box, who cut back through bodies to find Joel Piroe.

The striker then composed himself before checking back onto his left foot, putting Mattie Pollock on the deck as he rolled the ball into the bottom corner:

Leeds’ top-scoring striker took to Instagram to react to his latest strike to move onto 14 goals and six assists for the season.

In the comments was Junior Firpo, astonished at the quality shown by Piroe to embarrass his marker with the touch and finish:

In the first half of the season, Piroe was scoring goals but not doing the rest of the work to really nail his place as a lone striker.

However, this recent run of form has seen him transform quite significantly into someone who we can confidently play through, rather than around.

He’s linking well, providing for his teammates, dropping deep to allow Leeds an outlet, and obviously taking chances that are falling to him as well.

That Golden Boot might just have his name on it in May.
