EFL and Sky Sports have just given Daniel Farke another irritating Leeds United headache

Leeds United fans have consistently given their thoughts on the ever-changing fixture schedule and the contempt for match-going fans that goes with it, and the upcoming Portsmouth fixture is more proof of their point.

Leeds are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship despite not playing in the league this afternoon, taking on Millwall on the FA Cup instead.

With that, there can’t be much complaining that Daniel Farke can have at the moment, but the pressure to keep up momentum will only intensify as the schedule picks up in pace in the coming weeks.

The EFL have confirmed this week that Leeds’ long trip down to the South Coast to take on Portsmouth in March has been moved for broadcast.

Leeds’ new kick-off date for their trip to Fratton Park, the reverse of the Whites’ opening day 3-3 thriller, is now on Sunday 9th March.

The fixture will kick off at 12pm, with that the only fixture changed in the latest group of fixtures up to the 12th March.

As ever, Leeds appear to be on the wrong side of the Sky Sports re-scheduling of Championship fixtures, now facing a long trip down for an early start at Pompey.

Not only is it a daunting trip for the inevitably sold out away end, but it’s not ideal for Leeds’ fixtures coming straight after that clash against John Mousinho’s side.

Leeds now have three games in six days from that Portsmouth game, followed by a midweek home clash against Millwall (Wednesday 12th), and then the following trek down to QPR (Saturday 15th).

Farke has been forced to utilise plenty of his squad in order to avoid further long-term injury issues, and March looks like another period where rotation is going to be key to keep up promotion momentum.
