Six more Newcastle United players who could leave after Miguel Almiron including ‘frustrated’ £20m player

Newcastle United is on the verge of selling Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United, and more departures could follow before the close of the January transfer window.

While it’s unlikely that Newcastle will make any signings, there are expected to be several exits from St James’ Park.

Almiron is set to join Atlanta United for £10 million, having said his goodbyes to his Newcastle teammates. Meanwhile, Jamie Miley is also set to leave, joining Hartlepool United. Both transfers are expected to be finalized soon.

There could still be additional departures as Geordie Boot Boys assess six players who may leave Newcastle before the window ends.

Lloyd Kelly
Lloyd Kelly’s potential departure has surprised many this month. Fenerbahce initially made a bid for him, with Juventus also showing interest. However, Eddie Howe is reluctant to let Kelly go, as expected. His future will depend on whether a suitable offer is received, likely in the form of a cash bid, which would allow Newcastle to reinvest.

Odysseas Vlachodimos
Newcastle had expected to lose a goalkeeper this January, with Martin Dubravka the most likely candidate. However, Dubravka appears set to stay after a move to Al-Shabab fell through, which has shifted focus to Vlachodimos. The £20 million goalkeeper is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time, having made only one competitive appearance for the club. His future remains uncertain, especially after he turned down a transfer to Al-Shabab following Dubravka’s situation.

Matt Targett
Newcastle is reportedly open to letting Matt Targett leave on loan, as the left-back has fallen down the pecking order. Leeds have shown interest, and Targett seems like the most probable senior player to depart before the window shuts.

Garang Kuol
After missing out on a move in the summer, Newcastle is willing to loan out Garang Kuol this month. However, they want to ensure he joins a club where he can develop properly, as his previous loan spells were unsuccessful.

Alfie Harrison
Another young player who could be loaned out is 19-year-old Alfie Harrison. The midfielder was part of the first-team during pre-season, and while a loan didn’t materialize earlier in the window, there’s still time for him to embark on his first loan spell.

Sean Longstaff
After Almiron, Sean Longstaff is considered the next senior player most likely to leave. As a homegrown talent, selling Longstaff would provide a significant PSR boost for the club. Everton has been linked with the midfielder, who has not started a Premier League match since December. Although it’s thought Longstaff may leave in the summer, a suitable offer could see him depart earlier.
