Newcastle United discover Alexander Isak transfer twist as Mikel Arteta offers explanation

Newcastle United continues to compete with Arsenal both on and off the pitch. The most urgent focus is securing a spot in this season’s Carabao Cup final, while the two Premier League sides are also reportedly clashing in the transfer market.

The Magpies are potentially just 90 minutes away from reaching Wembley. To seal their place, they’ll need all their players in top form, including Alexander Isak. The striker has scored 19 goals this season and is key to helping Eddie Howe’s team achieve their long-awaited success.

However, as Isak’s performances continue to impress, speculation about his future remains. Arsenal, who have long needed a striker, have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s No.14. According to the latest reports and transfer rumors, Chronicle Live takes a closer look at the situation.

Arsenal Struggling to Secure Alexander Isak Despite rumors of an improved contract for Isak at Newcastle, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update. On his YouTube channel, Romano stated: “Arsenal made an enquiry recently to learn about the situation with [Jhon] Duran, as [Benjamin] Sesko, for now, hasn’t received a green light from RB Leipzig.

“Alexander Isak, Arsenal’s dream target, is incredibly expensive — almost impossible, very complicated.”

While Isak, 25, is reportedly Arsenal’s top target, the difficulty in striking a deal has led them to shift focus to other options, such as Duran from Aston Villa. Romano further mentioned: “However, there have been no bids or direct negotiations with Aston Villa. They want to keep the player, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Mikel Arteta Reacts to Myles Lewis-Skelly’s Appeal Outcome Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly is now cleared to play in the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle after the FA overturned his red card from the Wolves match, deeming it a wrongful dismissal.

The 18-year-old full-back had been sent off by referee Michael Oliver, which would have meant missing three matches, but the decision has now been rescinded.

Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts, saying: “I’m really happy that the decision has been made and Myles is available for us.” He added that when he shared the news with Lewis-Skelly, “He was sleeping on the plane when I told him.”

With a 2-0 victory in the first leg away from home, Newcastle now has one foot in the final, with Isak and Anthony Gordon scoring the goals.
