Arsenal are now preparing for a date with London rivals Brentford on New Year’s Day, with their 2024 action all wrapped up after that slender win over Ipswich Town. The Gunners are back into second and still fighting to get back into the thick of the title race, with Liverpool giving no quarter over recent weeks.
Brentford will present another stiff test for the Gunners, though Thomas Frank’s men are decimated by injuries. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Chukwueze links
Arsenal are said to be interested in a deal to sign AC Milan winger Samu Chukwueze as they look to add competition out wide, and for the next for months at least, fill the void left by Bukayo Saka. According to Milan Live. Chukwueze is an option for the Gunners due to him spending much of the season as a player resorting to appearances off the bench.
Chukwueze is reportedly available for £17million, a similar fee to what Milan paid to land him from Villarreal in the summer before last. Former Villarreal boss Unai Emery said of Chukwueze back in 2021: “We are happy with Samuel Chukwueze, he’s growing up here with us and his performances are getting better little by little but above all we want to achieve with him our objectives with his skills, his capacity.
“He is young and he has a very good future and then trying to add his performances for our team, for the national team, maybe in the future he can go to another league to grow up more but I think he’s very happy here with us, and every match with him is very important to try to get best performance with him.”
Tierney ‘decision’
Kieran Tierney faces an uncertain future amid his long-awaited return from injury. The Scot’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and while he may yet play a part over the coming months, he is not likely to get a new deal.
A summer departure is likely, and a return to Celtic has been mooted. Tierney would have to take a big pay cut, but Football Insider say Tierney is willing to reject any other offers to secure a return to Parkhead next summer.
