Leicester City’s preparations for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Brighton have been dealt a blow with the news that one of their key players will miss the game through injury.
Harry Winks, the Foxes’ midfield maestro, has been struggling with a groin injury sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea a fortnight ago. Despite making progress in his recovery, Winks will not be available for selection against Brighton.

“Harry was outside with the physios, training separately,” Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said at his press conference on Friday afternoon. “He’s progressing well, but he’s not yet into team training.”
The absence of Winks will be a significant blow to Leicester City, who have been struggling to find consistency in recent weeks. However, van Nistelrooy will be hoping that his team can build on their recent performances and pick up a valuable three points against Brighton.
One player who will not be available for selection against Brighton is Facundo Buonanotte, who is ineligible to play against his parent club. This could provide an opportunity for other players to stake their claim for a starting spot.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid will be one of the players looking to take advantage of Buonanotte’s absence. The midfielder impressed in his cameo appearance against West Ham, and will be hoping to build on that performance against Brighton.
“De Cordova-Reid is a talented player who has been working hard in training,” van Nistelrooy said. “He’s got a great attitude and is always looking to improve. We’re confident that he can make a big impact for us in the coming weeks.”
The Brighton game will be a tough test for Leicester City, but van Nistelrooy will be hoping that his team can rise to the challenge and pick up a valuable three points.
“We’re looking forward to the game against Brighton,” van Nistelrooy said. “We know it will be a tough test, but we’re confident that we can get a good result. We’ll be working hard in training to prepare for the game and make sure we’re ready to go on Sunday.”
Leicester City will be looking to build on their recent performances, which have seen them pick up four points from their last two games. A win against Brighton would be a huge boost for the Foxes, and would help to cement their position in the top half of the table.
The Foxes will be facing a Brighton side that has been in good form of late, with the Seagulls having won three of their last four games. However, Leicester City will be confident of getting a good result, having beaten Brighton 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
“We know that Brighton are a good team, but we’re confident that we can get a good result,” van Nistelrooy said. “We’ll be working hard in training to prepare for the game and make sure we’re ready to go on Sunday.”
