Alan Shearer Praises Ange Postecoglou’s Tactics Despite Tottenham’s Defeat

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has praised Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou’s tactics, despite his side’s 2-1 victory over Spurs at St. James’ Park.

Shearer, who was commentating on the match, was impressed by Postecoglou’s approach, stating: “Tottenham dominated possession and created numerous chances, but ultimately couldn’t capitalize on their dominance. That’s not down to the manager, that’s down to the players not being clinical enough in front of goal.”

Shearer also praised Postecoglou’s ability to nullify Newcastle’s threats, saying: “Ange got his tactics spot on today. He knew exactly how to stifle our attack and create opportunities for his own team. He’s a top-class manager, and I think he’ll get it right at Tottenham.”

When asked about the winning goal, scored by Alexander Isak, Shearer acknowledged that it was against the run of play, but credited Postecoglou’s team for pushing hard for a winner. “Tottenham were pushing for a goal, and we caught them on the counter. But that’s not down to the manager, that’s just football.”

Shearer’s praise for Postecoglou is a testament to the manager’s growing reputation in the Premier League. Despite the defeat, Postecoglou’s tactics and team selection were widely praised, and he will be looking to build on this performance in upcoming matches.
