Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly eyeing two promising defenders to provide backup for Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, but they’ll face stiff competition from Premier League suitors.

According to sources, the Ligue 1 champions have rekindled their interest in Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida, with Aston Villa also joining the chase. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Villans are keen to strengthen their defense with Geertruida’s addition for the 2024-25 season.

Meanwhile, journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin disclosed that PSG are also monitoring left-back Bradley Locko, who currently plies his trade at Stade Brestois. However, Nottingham Forest are also believed to be tracking the defender.

Geertruida, 22, impressed in the Eredivisie last season with eight goals and five assists in 34 appearances, while Locko, 20, made 35 appearances for Brest, registering three assists.

PSG are adopting a cautious approach with Geertruida, according to Foot Mercato’s Sébastien Denis, but their interest in both players underscores their desire to bolster their defensive options.

The French giants are well aware of the importance of squad depth, particularly in the defensive department, as they aim to dominate both domestically and in European competitions.
