Aston Villa Set to Pursue ‘Superb’ Playmaker Who Excelled Against Them Last Season
Aston Villa’s hierarchy is already exploring transfer targets for the upcoming January window, despite having made seven new signings in the recent market, including the high-profile arrival of Amadou Onana from Everton. The £50m signing has made a significant impact, scoring twice in four appearances and justifying the investment.
However, the club is not resting on its laurels and is planning to make an approach for a playmaker based on the continent. According to reports, Aston Villa is interested in signing Ernest Muci, who excelled against them last season while playing for Legia Warsaw.
Muci scored twice in a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in September 2023 and also found the net in the reverse fixture, which Villa won 2-1. He subsequently joined Super Lig giants Besiktas in a mid-season transfer but has struggled to replicate his previous form.
Turkish outlet Aksam reports that both Aston Villa and West Ham United are preparing to make an approach to sign Muci in the January transfer window. It is claimed that Muci is open to a move to the Premier League, and an offer of around £12.6m could convince Besiktas to sell.
The 23-year-old Albanian playmaker, described as ‘superb’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has made only one start across all competitions this season, indicating that he is no longer a key player for Besiktas.
Aston Villa’s interest in Muci is understandable, given his impressive performance against them last season. His ability to score goals and create chances could be a valuable asset for Unai Emery’s side.
However, it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can secure Muci’s signature in January. West Ham United is also reportedly interested, and Besiktas may drive a hard bargain for their player.
If successful, the signing of Muci could be a shrewd move for Aston Villa, adding depth and creativity to their midfield. With the club already making waves in the transfer market, this could be another astute addition to their squad.
